United Kingdom — Participant Testimonials

- "It was a secure environment to be nudged out of your comfort zone."
- "The instructor enabled me to use a current BIG issue to work through and carry away a structured plan for."
- "Although very scary (I hate speaking in public!), it has helped me to get more used to it (speaking in public) and feel more confident, not so afraid. Really enjoyed myself. Thank you very much."
- "The presentation style of the instructor was fun, lively and extremely involving, without being 'pushy'."
- "The structure presented in practical terms that I can actually use on a daily basis. I just wish I'd had the training two years ago at least — best course in years (and I have attended a few)! Keep spreading these tools ... so that more people can be clear and concise with their communications."
- "Learning skills to apply not just to work but can use at home and in social situations.
- "Really enjoyed the logical flow and being able to apply the situations the training to real life work situations. Fantastic — Thanks."

Various comments from Think on Your Feet® Participants
"I shall be using all the techniques when applying for a new post, both in my application pack and any presentations; as well as dealing with work situations on a day to day basis. Mmm ... short-term planning, mid-term planning and long-term planning — I must stop this — I am becoming an obsessive pegger ... (no NOT beggar)!"

"I did it!
Thanks so much for your help in 'pegging'. I produced the document towards the Business Plan and we used it yesterday — it formed an excellent basis for wider discussion and inclusion.
Again, a really useful day and enjoyed myself very much."

"Many thanks for the training — just a quick message to let you know I have actually put some of my newly acquired skills into practice as I was asked to do a talk tomorrow. Triangle with pegs — kept the whole thing fairly simple — but I feel very relaxed about doing it! A definite plus!
Thanks once again."

"Thank you very much for an excellent course last week. [We] have learnt so much that can be applied to our work, and the presentation for Thursday is going to be a cracker, thanks to you and Think on Your Feet®."

"I thoroughly enjoyed the training and very much appreciate the enthusiasm that you put into it — I now peg in my sleep!"

"I have a presentation to deliver next week to a new departmental director. I had previously prepared it but now have radically changed the contents. It now has plenty of pegs & plans within it, with the Clock, Globe & Triangle working well in this one!
[Bridging] was definitely a weakness with me but now I'm ready to practice my new found skills, I'm sure they'll come in handy and I feel a lot more confident about delivering the presentation.
Thanks for everything."

A TESTIMONIAL TO THINK ON YOUR FEET®
"My life changed forever about a week after the TOYF® workshop.
I woke up one morning with a single thought on my mind — 'I could get that job if I applied myself'.
You see, just before I attended the TOYF® workshop, I had seen a job advertised that I felt I could not possibly apply for because I felt I lacked the necessary 'skills'.
TOYF® gave me the capacity to 'dissect' that which is meaningful from that which could be 'shelved'. I learnt to display that knowledge in a formidable but polite manner. I learned to deal with 'challenges' as they occurred and if uncertain gained the ability to 'park' those challenges, in the right place and at the right time.
I learned to capture everyone's 'emotions', to categorise them and to either deal with them or divert them.
I learned to manage the pace; to control, either visually or mentally.
So, to summarise:
At the interview I portrayed confidence. I demonstrated the ability to listen and interact; to facilitate; to take charge; to delegate.
I broke through those barriers in my mind that would otherwise have held me back from applying for a job, previously titled as 'out of my league'.
I was interviewed on the Thursday, offered the job on the Friday and started a week on the Monday.
The Project I manage is a National Project of which only 20 [groups] ... nationwide will take part and already I have been asked to facilitate at a national conference ... and yes, you've guessed it ... I'm looking forward to it!"
